The beaches in ABACO were very different from what I had seen prior, here the footprints were very noticeable, and so picturesque. At most beach locations one actually sank into the sand for several inches.
Hopetown is actually on Elbow Cay, which is a short ferry ride from Marsh Harbour on Abaco. The town is actually quite small, easy to walk around on their narrow streets. Great place to take a side trip down some of walkways and view either the harbour area filled with sailboats or examinine some of the lodgings along the Ocean.
Rather than booking in Hopetown, I chose the Abaco Inn several miles south of town. Not only did the Inn provide great accommodation, with excellent meals and amenities, it had one of the most enjoyable Sunrises & Sunsets that I have encountered. An early morning rise had the
waves pounding against the Atlantic Ocean seashore, and after a relaxing day beside the pool and beach, it was just a short walk across a narrow piece of land to view the sunset as
yachts entered into the bay.
Back on the mainland in Abaco the Abaco Beach Resort provides a more updated lodging experience that includes most of the amenities found in the United States. The yachting crowd are prime customers and fishing is a great attraction.
