West Virginia - Mountain State
Interactive Map, Video Clips, Pictures

The state is noted for its mountains and diverse topography, its historically significant logging and coal mining industries, and its political and labor history. It is one of the most densely karstic areas in the world, making it a choice area for recreational caving and scientific research. The karst lands contribute to much of the state's cool trout waters. It is also known for a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities, including skiing, whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and hunting.

West Virginia: One of my favorite States to pass thru. Mountains, valleys and streams are all very picturesque. Many times we have stopped at the New River Gorge and marvelled as to the scenery and the efforts it must have taken to complete the bridge crossing.
Back roads will take one to the Green Brier bicycle trail that goes along the major tributary of Green River.
It is the road trips however that are my favorites, be it on Interstate 79 in the North-East section of the State or on the bypass of Highway 19 . Here the scenery is just tremendous, especially when the trees have started to change colors, but care should be taken to keep one`s eyes on the road and pull over to the side, then take out your camera and click away.
