South Carolina: From a tourism point of view it starts with golfing, but the beaches and entertainment venues are becoming a close second. Mrytle Beach is a fun place to be in the summer months and for our northern visitors golf goes well into December with start up times in the early spring. Further south on the coast the city of Charleston displays proudly it`s past heritage and is well worth a visit.
For cyclists the Swamp Fox Trail cuts thru the Lowcountry’s swampland and marshy bogs thick with brush.
Driving on I95 thru the State shows the great amount of Pine trees on a relatively flat terrain, while the drive on I77 from Charlotte to Columbia is on a rolling terrain with mostly in a pine forest. Further on I26 it becomes densely wooded as you travel from Columbia to the I95 turnoff. in these low lands close to the Atlantic. Pulp and paper mills are very evident as you travel the highway.
