Missouri: Missouri was originally acquired from France as part of the Louisiana Purchase and became defined as the Missouri Territory. Part of the Missouri Territory was admitted into the union as the 24th state on August 10, 1821.
St. Louis, nicknamed the "Gateway to the West" for its role in the westward expansion of the United States, the city gave the moniker in 1965 to the new Gateway Arch built as part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial; the Arch has become the iconic image of St. Louis.
Baseball trip here allowed us to see the Cardinals and although the Royals are thought to be located in Kansas, they are actually located in Missouri. The 2015 World Series champions!
