Fort Lauderdale has everything, but the prices rise accordingly. Los Olas boulevard or the Riverfront area are very popular places to go for visitors, however, the Beach or take a 3 minute drive cruising A1A along the beach, seems to be the major pastimes.
Water is everywhere and the canal system is an attraction itself, but for many taking cruises thru the intercoastal, or to the Bahamas, or the Carribean are plentiful. Departures points in Dania and Fort Lauderdale cater to the gambling crowds.
Hollywood for me was just right, especially walking or biking on the Beach Boardwalk. Both locations provide many outstanding restaurants but if you like to be real close to the action, then the boardwalk in Hollywood is where you should be. The Intercoastal waterway in Hollwood appears more visible but it does stretch down thru the whole area. The downtown area caters to the jazz affectionists as well as excellent eating establishments.
Time spent at a condo development provided some exceptional times to view the sunrise over the Atlantic.
Dania sits between these two cities and is much smaller in size but is noted for it`s beach area, fishing pier and park beside the ocean. There are several beaches south of the pier where one can lay back
or sit on a beach chair and watch the Atlantic waves hit the shoreline.
Lodging clips in Fort Lauderdale are available at the Hyatt that has water access, or even shaped like a ship at the Yankee Clipper the or beachfront at the Lago Mar resort. If you wish a Bed & Breakfast or are looking for longer terms try the Canal Hotels .
In Hollywood Beach you can try the world famous Diplomat or one of the Beach Hotels are on the Atlantic Ocean.
Restaurant clips like Dan Marino`s or the Riverhouse in the Riverfront district of Fort Lauderdale or if you wish to be at the beach, try one of the Beach Restaurants . Hollywood Beach has many on the boardwalk, or for one on the Intercoastal the Giorgio`s is a good choice. A casual favorite of mine is Le Tub which is on the Intercoastal also.
