The Cog Railway trip up and down was very memorable and I would not hesitate on returning for another trip. They apparently even run when there is snow on the tracks. The railway trip to over 14,000 feet was an experience in itself and to me was much easier than driving as one can concentrate on the scenery. Now, we had lady luck on our side and had front row seats where every inch of movement was before us. A fantastic ride that played before our eyes as the cog train rose slowly to the summit. One could drive, however, but being able to view every moment was worth the cost. View our trip down from Pike's Peak as that first drop down was an experience in itself.

Easy to say that this site is one of my favorites, but sometimes you must pay the piper, and like us the trip up the mountain on the cog railway was well worth the price. Viewing the countryside in all directions for miles upon miles give you a feeling that you stand on top of the world. It was however, the trip down, with that first site of going over the edge that will be remembered forever.

Taking the cog railway to Pike`s Peak.
America the beautiful really does have some meaning here. Pikes Peak does allow you to view for miles upon miles and the exposures are not just of mountains and lakes but also over the Colorado plains. One can easily walk around this mountain top looking at all sites in all directions. Fortunately, we took the cog railway to the summit and were rewarded with front row seats that allowed for excellent pictures and video clips.
