This drive takes one from Clearwater Beach to the city of Clearwater. New bridge allows for sailboat passage as well as all personal watercraft. Scenery along the causeway and the bridge is quite nice, and traffic is handled easily except on those days where the beach draws in large crowds ( this could be for local or tourism ). Overall I still deem it as more than adequate.

Drives to get you around

Drive Alt19 to Douglas Avenue
Drive continues to Dunedin passing local business sites on Alt 19 and meanders toward the east, crossing the Pinellas Trail just prior to hitting Douglas Ave.

Drive back to Clearwater Beach
One of the quite scenic drives is to take the causeway back from downtown Clearwater to the Beach. Here the scenery is exceptional as the bridge height shows the entire beach area in a panoramic picture. Parking is available if you wish to stop, walk on the bridge path, and then take photos.

Stops along the way

Winter`s Clearwater Aquarium
Aquarium is currently located on a small island on the Intercoastal waterway mid- point between Clearwater Beach and downtown Clearwater. Plans have been approved to build a new home to accommodate the large amount of visitors who make the trip to the area. This new home will be located in Clearwater downtown corridor.

Philadelphia Philles Spring Training
is held in Clearwater, and if you take Drew St East you will see the Stadium just north of Drew prior to meeting Hwy 19. This Baseball Park is exceptional for viewing and is quite modern in appearance.
