This drive reviews South Gulfview Blvd from Sand Key Bridge that crosses the channel separating the Intercoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico all the way to Mandalay Circle where you are able to continue with
a
Drive to the Palm Pavilion in a northern section of the Beach
or Drive to City of Clearwater passing the home of "Winter" at the Clearwater Aquarium.

The drive itself starts at the Sand Key crossing where several accommodation sites abut the channel joining the intercoastal waterway to the Gulf of Mexico (Wyndam, Quality Inn, Gulfview). Retail stores provide for many tourist needs across from these lodging establishments.

Shephard`s Bar
Which is on the channel is well known for its live entertainment during the tourist season. Busy place with many individuals from a younger generation, however it is also known for it`s Sunday Brunches. Shephard`s is also in the midst of developing a major addition to it`s current hotel accommodations & outside bar area that was opened for the 2014 tourist season.

Jimmy Iguana`s
Behind the Holiday Inn. It also backs onto the channel and has live entertainment at times. Here the audience is more mature and dining either indoors or outdoors is available.

Holiday Inn & Suites
had a place down the street but bought and remodelled this one. Actually this is in quite a good location.
Just west of the Holiday Inn, several condominiums provide separation from the main section of Clearwater Beach.

The Beach
is quite wide at this time and able to accommodate many activities like volleyball tournaments and other festive functions such as spring break and major sporting events.

Beach Restaurants & Hotels
across from the beach itself include such names as the TravelLodge, Frenchy's, and MacDonalds.

The Hyatt Hotel
is a recent addition and is now the Landmark Hotel on the beach, with direct views of most prime beach activities.

The narrow separation from the Gulf of Mexico to the Intercoastal waterway provides the opportunity to have many tourism activities within near distance to beach traffic.

Pier House Hotel
is one of the newer hotels that has emerged in a very central location with quite excellent views including the Sunset Pier.

Rides & Activities
are numerous and include the likes of porpoise watching, wave riders, power boats, hang gliding, dinner cruise and of course fishing charters.

Crabby Bill`s Restaurant
is another of the famous Clearwater seafood restaurants.

Many times during a drive in the area one will notice these different type buses (some even with open air windows) that make their way along the roads. They are called the "Jolly Trolley" and actually travel from St. Petersburg downtown, over to St Pete`s Beach , up Gulf Boulevard passing thru Treasure Island, Madiera Beach, Reddington, Indian Shores, Indian Rocks and then to Clearwater Beach, Clearwater, Dunedin and finally to Tarpon Springs . A great way to see the area, stop at many locations along the way and all with a one day ticket.
Just as a suggestion, drop off at Mahuffer`s in Indian Shores (On our web site in Gulf Shores). It really is a bar like NO other!
