Swamp Fox Trail

near Charleston, South Carolina

Swamp Fox Trail uses an old rail bed (although it is barely visible). It is part of the Palmetto trail thru South Carolina. For more detail visit this web site here.
A trail thru Southern Carolina wetlands. Much different than many of our northern trails. Single track thru the wetlands, but deer and wildlife are more plentiful than most bike trails. Generally a bit harder to bike, but not as difficult as the pictures portray. I rather enjoyed it and nature seemed to be right with you.

John`s Recollections

Felt like I was in a tunnel, as the bike path was surrounded by shrubbery that was barely 10 feet tall but it gave the appearance of being on top of you at all times. Never met a soul on the ride, but in these backwoods that may have been OK for s single cyclist. Many birds, racoons and even a deer encountered on the trip.
