Travelogue

Michigan - Mackinac Island

Back to the 19th Century
Now here is a place that will bring you back in time. Even with the many tourists, I felt as though we were transported ourselves, to a different century where we were able walk through the gardens, experience life inside stately hotels, see the graveyard where headstones displayed years and wordings of far away years, and even walk the pathways or roads as horse drawn carriages passed by. An Island getaway where motorized vehicles are not allowed.
Feeling that we were participants rather than observers made this a special place.

Nature plays a major role, however MAN has developed the environment. This is why Travel to me is so important, as one has the opportunity to experience new horizons. You actually do retain those thoughts that should never be erased.

Trip Report

Interstate 75 passes by St Ignace & Mackinaw City where you get the ferry for a ride across the bay to Mackinac Island. Accommodation is available on the Island, however reserve prior to the trip across as it is limited.
