South and West of San Francisco is an area of many beaches, many surfers and great scenery that even includes a lighthouse. One does not have to stay in town to enjoy some of San Francisco`s great sites. To top it off there are also some unique restaurants where we took full advantage of.

John`s Recollections
Being from the EAST, I rather thought all areas were like the movies. How surprising, there are few, but this drive portrayed that feeling. Here, you can still see the surfers, and even in one place an abode for what you would call used by surfer-ites. Scenery along this coastal drive had the lighthouses and a few of those rustic restaurants where movies of the past were made.

Short drive from San Francisco to Pacific Coastal area.
There are times, when time is available, that even a short drive can bring out sights and sounds that are not readily apparent. This drive allowed us the opportunity to see the Pacific once again, but also witnessing surfers in action as they plied their trade. A wonderful relaxing drive with no pressure to be anywhere other than enjoying the moment.

Have you ever felt the sand between your toes?
Maybe I may be a bit strange but when I first walk out on a beach it is something that occurs naturally, like putting one foot in front of the other. When I wiggle my toes in the sand it brings back memories of this first walk on a Pacific ocean beach just outside of San Francisco. I can visualize walking by a home made shelter that was likely built by one of those surfboard individuals that wanted to catch that first wave in the morning. I can see the waves crashing into the shore in a pattern that never seems to stop. It is just a very pleasant memory, one that has lasted a lifetime. This is why Travel to me is so important, as one has the opportunity to experience new horizons. You actually do retain those thoughts that should never be erased.
