John's Comments
Overall it was quite flat, with many corn fields and large farm operations. Closer to Nebraska the hills became more rolling and more scenic.
John`s Recollections
Crossing the Mississippi from Illinois into Iowa is rather scenic but for the most part the land is quite flat, with many large farms.

Iowa Farming
Today there are water shortages, however on our trip greenery and abundant crops were plentiful. My memories include the length of time spent to reach our first major destinations in South Dakota. Basically two full days of driving to reach Mount Rushmore from Detroit, with fields of crops always by our side. Farms are very large as well as the silos and homesteads. Could not wait until we got out of the corn, but our next stop only gave us more at Michell, South Dakota.
