Drive - Bandon to the Redwood Forest
State of Oregon
Starting in Astoria and traveling south to Brookings, the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway provides views of amazing coastal scenery. The road winds by estuarine marshes, clings to seaside cliffs, passes through agricultural valleys and brushes against wind-sculpted dunes. Charming small towns, museums, state parks, overlooks, historic bridges and lighthouses ensure a delightful journey.

Spectacular scenery on the Pacific Coast. For me this was one of the major highlights of a 12,000 mile trip. Spectacular coastal views over several hundred miles. As every corner approached it became another picture taking moment.

Definitely one of my favorites. With stopping to view the scenery and take many, many pictures it took a full day drive to reach the wineries in Sonoma/Napa. In Oregon it is the Pacific Coast that beckons you while just after entering California it is the beginning of the Redwood Forests.

Back on the road driving the lower portion of the Oregon Coast.
Looking back, I must say this area was my favorite to visit. The scenery here was just excellent, the Pacific Ocean as it should be with the waves coming up on the beach shoreline with the rock abutments hindering their flow. And it went on and on for an extended period of time. One would think after visiting so many great sights that they would become commonplace but that is not so.
