John`s Comments
Flat terrain with many trees lining the sides of the road, making driving an easier task. Built up areas are minimal and that relieves the traffic considerably. Rather than driving through Charlotte during busy traffic periods one can take the bypass that goes around the city.

John`s Recollections
Drive through Charlotte has many opportunities to view skyline of city but as you drive south the terrain flattens out noticably and pine trees start to appear along the roadside. Usually when we drive this stretch of the Interstate, the weather is rarely a problem, however on our way south for the winter on one occasion the stretch of road from Charlotte to 50 miles south, we encountered a major snow disruption. Traffic slowed to a minimal speed and an early stop at Columbia was rather the way to go.
