Population centers increase as well as traffic the closer you reach Alexandria and Washington. Even the Interstate increases the number of lanes.
John`s Recollections
Rolling hills in the southern section are soon replaced with increased traffic, especially when you approach the Alexandria area. This stop at Alexandria gave us time to reflect on natural settings versus those where people had developed their own dwellings. Both have their advantages and it was quite noticeable in such a confined area.
